As Christians, we have to be in the world, but not of it. Government can be both good and evil, but I believe we must stay engaged. God did bless us with a strong republic.
We have an outcry about how women have been treated in the workplace due to this recent revelation in Hollywood. It is terrible, and I hope that all the Harvey Weinstein business helps to put an end the to the mistreatment of both women and men. With that said, I should point out that the liberal progressive side of politics, religion, and anything else needs to apologize to the conservative side of the spectrum.
Throughout the election and the months afterwards there was nothing but condemnation about President Trump’s old remarks that were caught on camera. We then listened as every major media outlet condemned everyone who voted for “a man that could treat women this way.” Now, there is another man who, apparently, not only talked crassly about women but also assaulted women. We also now know, through various outlets, that the Hollywood elites were in the know the whole time and several big Democrat politicians also took money from him.
There was a great post, I say great because the guy apologized for his part in all the Weinstein business. But here is just the introduction to the story about this article.
“Producer and screenwriter Scott Rosenberg, famous for penning the Nicolas Cage action hits Con Air and Gone In Sixty Seconds, as well as critical successes such as High Fidelity and Beautiful Girls, aired out his guilt and grievances with how Hollywood’s elite are spewing “sanctimonious denial and condemnation” with regard to Harvey Wienstein and his criminally predatory ways.”
If you read it, he says, rather graphically, they all knew and did nothing. When he says all, he means a lot of Hollywood stars. He goes on to say Weinstein had too much power to overcome, they had no one to tell, and the ride was too good. As I said in the last article, what does it profit a man to gain the world but lose his soul.
So will we get to hear the hypocrisy in Hollywood and from the politicians? Bottom line, if you thought Trump’s actions were deplorable, then you must agree Weinstein’s were as well. And all of those liberal stars and politicians that preach fairness must also be held accountable for inaction. Hollywood is going to have to have a moment of realization that the abusive behavior that is coming to light had been going on for years and was covered up by the very people that have attacked our President. You are going to have to admit that Hollywood, the Hollywood that the “left” is so enamored with are complicit in this man’s behavior and coverup.
NOW, this is not meant to condemn, believe it or not, but rather to say “look in the mirror.” There are misdeeds on both sides of the isle. Man is a sinner, not because he sins, but because he is a sinner. That is our natural state. It reared its ugly head back in the Garden of Eden, it happened in Rome, and continues to happen to this day.
There are only two outcomes. First, this hypocrisy can continue. We can learn nothing from this, make all sorts of excuses and continue tearing each other apart. Or the hypocrisy stops. We can recognize that we are all sinners in need of God’s grace, and grow in God’s word. Can we not start having a dialogue, listen to both sides, and strive to see the other points of view? You don’t have to agree with it, and can stand against it, but we should have a discourse. By doing this, maybe we can heal our nation, and begin to rebuild and restore it. If we don’t, I know what that end will look like, judgement will fall sooner than later.
2 Timothy 3:1-4 (ESV) Godlessness in the Last Days
1 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, 4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
The question becomes, can we, like Nineveh, repent and stave off judgement for a while longer? And yes, I believe that we are under grace, as a nation, and God’s wrath hasn’t even begun to fall. Look at the Book of Revelation for what that will look like.
Whatever happens, last days or not, know that God is in control. He will judge and He will work it out.
Grace & Peace,
